dc.description.abstractBackground : International Diabetes Federation (IDF) predicts that Indonesia has increasing of amount of diabetic patient 10 million in 2015 to be 16,2 million in 2030. The improvement of diabetes mellitus phenomenom will be followed by complication of diabetes which causes the depression. Dance Movement Therapy is one of nonpharmacotherapy alternatives that can be used to overcome the problem of depression because it is a fun physical activity, a means of verbal and nonverbal communication, a means of self-expression, a means of social interaction, fun games, and a means of releasing tension. This benefits can lead a positive mood for someone with depression so that there are improvement of depression score. The research has purpose to know the influence of Dance Movement Therapy on the improvement of depression score in patient with type 2 diabetes melitus. Methods : The design of this research was a Quasi-Experiment pretest and posttest with control group design. The subjects were 48 diabetes melitus patient in Puskesmas Dlingo II. 24 subjects in Desa Muntuk as intervention group and 24 subjects in Desa Terong as control group. Interventions administered for 4 times and once time per week with a duration of 30-60 minutes as module guides. The depression score was evaluated with PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire). The data was analyzed by Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. Results : Based on the calculation mean+SD of the Wilcoxon test for the intervention group is 7,79 + 4,232 for pretest and 4,79 + 2,859 for posttest with p value is 0,000, then for the control group is 4,00 + 3,426 for pretest and 3,88 + 4,225 for posttest with p value is 0,445. The results of 2 samples Mann-Whitney test calculation of mean rank values for intervention group is 30,90 and 18,10 for control group with p value 0,001. Conclusions : Based on the results of research, it can be concluded that dance movement therapy has influence significantly to improvement of depression score in patient with type 2 diabetes melitus.en_US
