| dc.description.abstract | This research examines the role of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as one of international humanitarian organizations that addressed the humanitarian problems that mostly located in Northern Uganda, Eastern Africa. The long armed conflict between government of Uganda and military opposition group called Lord Resistance Army (LRA) has resulted great consequences especially for children.
This type of research is qualitative research using secondary data or library research. It provides the history of Uganda armed conflict, why and how the children were being involved in the armed conflict and how they were being treated when they were becoming combatant in LRA. It emphasizes the implications of post-armed conflict condition on the rehabilitation and reintegration of former child soldiers, seeing that the former child soldiers were in lack of attention and facing poor condition.
To analyze the data, this research uses the concept of human security in regards the children and concept of international organization to emphasize the role of UNICEF. Based on the research, the role of UNICEF is to reintegrate and rehabilitate former child soldiers in Uganda as the informational center that works comprehensively, and role as operational function. | en_US |
