dc.descriptionSince Malaysia gained independence on August 31, 1957, politics and government of Malaysia dominated by United Malays National Organization (UMNO). UMNO is a political party that represents the interests of the Malays in Malaysia. UMNO regime is very strong and dominant in the era of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad‘s leadership (July 16, 1981-October 31, 2003). At that time, the opposition movement or political opponents of UMNO regime does not have a space of freedom. So, when Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad stepped down from the post of Prime Minister of Malaysia on October 31, 2003, there were hopes for a change (reforms and democratization) in Malaysia. Some people estimate that the UMNO regime will soon collapse after Mahathir era. Because various problems and pressures have shake political stability during the UMNO regime. But, the facts show that after the leadership of the Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, UMNO regime still hold out in the politics and government of Malaysia from 2003 to 2015. This research aim to explain the endurance of UMNO regime’s in politics and government leadership post Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad 2003-2015. The data in this research is secondary data from books, journal, website, and other sources. And the technique of analysis of this research is qualitative analysis techniques.en_US
