Background: Smoking has a wide range of harmful effects, especially cigarette smoke that containing - hazardous materials such as molecular compounds, the reactive oxygen compounds and nicotine have toxic effects on cellular processes, so that cigarette smoke can increase the levels of Serum Glutamate Piruvate Transaminase (SGPT), Serum Glutamate Oksaloasetate Transaminase (SGOT) and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) in the liver. It is known that an increase in SGOT and SGPT significantly in smokers. This is because cigarette smoke spreading lipid peroxidation that damages the liver cell membrane. Then serum aminotransferase, an enzyme that is sensitive to liver damage, going out into the blood and cause an increase in SGOT and SGPT. Extracts obtained from citrus peel is known to have anti-oxidative potential of a good radical and is known that the extract from orange peel also has a hepatoprotective effect. Methods: The study was a laboratory experimental design with pre-test and post-test with control group design. The subjects were white rats (Rattus novergicus) Wistar male as many as 25 animals. There are 5 test groups were divided into groups of P1 (negative control), P2 (positive control), P3 (dose of 37.5 mg / kg), P4 (dose of 75 mg / kg), P5 (dose of 112.5 mg / kg). Each - each group contained 5 rats. RESULTS: Data were tested using the Wilcoxon test and showed that AST and ALT between the pre-test and post-test showed significantly different results. Data were also tested using the Kruskal-Wallis test and showed that there is a significantly different mean decrease in SGOT and SGPT (p = 0.00). Orange peel extract the most effective at inhibiting the increased levels of SGOT and SGPT is at a dose of 112.5 mg / kg. Conclusion: This study it can be concluded that the extract of sweet orange peel (Citrus sinensis) can reduce levels of SGOT and SGPT in test animals induced by cigarette smoke.en_US
Terdapat 5 kelompok uji yang terbagi menjadi kelompok P1 (kontrol negatif), P2 (kontrol positif), P3 (pemberian dosis 37,5 mg/kgBB), P4 (pemberian dosis 75 mg/kgBB), P5 (pemberian dosis 112,5 mg/kgBB). Masing – masing kelompok terdapat 5 ekor tikus.
