dc.description.abstractRice demand increasing more, various efforts conducted by government to increasing production have been applied. One of the paddy crop technologies is controling the pests with chemical pesticides. Rice Self-Suffifiency Program in the new era provides the bad impact to their use of excessive inputs, including chemical pesticides. By health demands, there are many other means conducted to pest control. The question is, how far the farmers use chemical pesticides, while they are convinced that chemical pesticides are effective to solve the pests? This encourages researcher to looked at “The Farmer Behavior Within The Use of Chemical Pesticides”. The research was conducted in Kutoanyar Village, in Kedu Subdistrict, Temanggung Regency. Kutoanyar is one of the villages which has the highest rice productivity in Temanggung Regency. This village has 4 farmers groups, namely: Gemah Ripah I, Gemah Ripah II, Dadi Subur and Dadi Makmur farmers groups which have 87 members. The number of each farmers group are: Gemah Ripah I farmers group has 26 people, Gemah Ripah II farmers group has 11 people, Dadi Subur farmers group has 41 people, and Dadi Makmur farmers group has 9 people. The samples was by proportional random sampling. The sample in each group was taken appoximately 50 percent of them. Thus, respondents to each farmers group in Kutoanyar village was taken as many as: Gemah Ripah I farmers group taken by 14 people, Gemah Ripah II farmers group taken by 6 people, Dadi Subur farmers group taken by 22 people, and Dadi Makmur farmers group taken by 5 people. The total samples are 47 the farmers. The data was taken by interviews and questionnaire. Based on results, obtained information about the farmers characteristics, that the majority of farmers aged between 43-60 years, basic-medium education, and only a farmer who have university degree. Most farmers have narrow land (0.08-0.78 ha). The number of load families between 2 and 7 people. The farmer’s side works in the Kutoanyar Village are various, there are construction workers, masons, speakers, village functional, traders, craftsman, self-employed, mechanicer and broker. In detail, related to farmers behavior within the use of chemical pesticides, found that the farmers behavior in using a type of chemical pesticides in the Kutoanyar village include in good category. Behavior in the use of chemical pesticide doses shows adequate category. The farmers behavior in mixing pesticides shows the good category. The farmers behavior in determining the spraying time shows the good category. The farmers behavior in using an interval spraying shows the good catagory. The farmers behavior in using spraying tools shows the not good enough catagory. The farmers behavior in applying chemical pesticides shows the good category. The farmers behavior in storing chemical pesticides and spraying tools shows good catagory. The paddy farmers behavior in Kutoanyar village in handling after spraying show the good catagory.en_US
