dc.description | The research reviews hadiths of motivation to learn in the book of Shahih at-Targhib Wa at-Tarhib in Chapter al-‘Ilmi. As it is known, motivation to learn has been one among other obstacles which is frequently experienced by students during their learning process. Thus, the objective of this research is to overcome the problems on motivation to learn experienced by students by placing prophet’s hadiths as its alternative solution.
The research was library research, which compiled sources from literatures relevant to the topic of the discussion area. Approach used in the research was qualitative approach and data analysis method used was descriptive analysis. In analyzing data, researcher used concepts taken from empirical data.
From the research result, the book of Shahih at-Targhib Wa at-Tarhib in Chapter al-‘Ilmi includes several hadiths which thematically proposes advices related to studying and motivation to learn. In this particular case, researcher didn’t take the whole hadiths in chapter al-‘ilmi. Instead, the writer chose several hadiths that relevant to motivation to learn, first hadith on the virtue of studying, second hadith on studying, third hadith mentioning that Allah loves those who are fond of studying, fourth hadith that analogies studying as water which dampens earth, fifth hadith stating that knowledge is counted as amal jariah, sixth hadith claiming that studying as the path to Allah, seventh hadith on motivation to respect teacher, eight hadith on practicing patience in studying, ninth hadith on a warning of ill intentions on studying, tenth hadith on instigation to practice knowledge. After being studied, those hadiths provide motivation to learn both intrinsically and extrinsically. Those hadiths also propose several strategies in building motivation to learn by giving praise, instruction, rewards, and punishment. | en_US |
