dc.description.abstractThe United States failed to control the development of North Korea's nuclear program almost in five decades. Though the United States is considered as an aggressive country in responding to every threat. This superpower has a track record that is often use preemptive attacks against enemies.Namun since since the leadership of President Nixon until President Trump United States has never provided a policy of military aggression against North Korea. For decades the United States still relies on diplomatic efforts both bilaterally and multilaterally. And through the policy of economic sanctions that functioned to pressure the position of North Korea to immediately stop the development of nuclear weapons. US foreign policy towards North Korea in 2012 until 2017. In 2012 under the new government of Kim Jong Un, North Korea violated UN sanctions by launching Unha 3 rocket. In 2017 North Korea successfully tested try hydrogen bombs and launch intercontinental missiles (ICBM) to threaten attacking the United States. Although these efforts proved unable to stop the North Korean step, but the government of Donald Trump to this day still rely on soft power policy. The United States government is to avoid the policy of military aggression against Kim Jong Un regimeen_US
