dc.description.abstractAbstract So far Indonesia has been investing heavily in Asia Africa cooperation, included hosted Asia Africa Conference in 1955, and it’s rejuvenation in the New Asian African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) which declared in 2005 and, in the Bandung Message declared in 2015. Nevertheless this political cooperation does not give significant impact on Indonesia – Africa economic cooperation. This paper examine about Indonesia Economic Diplomacy in Africa, especially in designing the establishment of Indonesia Africa Economic Forum. It is based on policy paper research for Indonesia Foreign Affair Department conducted by International Relations Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The research aims to prepare the establishment of the Indonesia – Africa Economic Forum and, to design activities which should be done by the Forum. The research was conducted by taking lesson learn from the other countries who had established economic forum with Africa, such as China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea, Japan and Ireland. By examining their activities, we can take the best practice and make it as a model for designing Indonesia – Africa Economic Forum activities. The research use primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected by conducting interview, focus group discussion and dissemination of research finding to some diplomats, business communities related to this issue, students, and academician. Secondary data was collected by examining previous research related to this issues published in journal, books and website. The result of the research shows that Indonesia – Africa Economic Forum is the right strategy for conducting Indonesia’s economic diplomacy in Africa. The economic forum activities should provide information and networking for business community, trade and investment promotion, country promotion for tourism, and influence norm in trade regulation. Stressing on economic cooperation will give mutual benefit for Indonesia and African countries. Keywords— economic diplomacy, economic forum, establishment, Indonesia-Africa.en_US
