dc.description.abstractAccording to IFLA Guidelines for Library Services 3 rd edition, 2008 on Multicultural Communities: “Cultural Diversity” or “Multiculturalism” refers to the harmonious co-existence and interaction of different cultures, where “culture should be regarded as the set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of society or a social group, and that it encompasses, in addition to art and literature; lifestyles, ways of living together, value systems, traditions and beliefs”. Cultural diversity or multiculturalism is the foundation of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) library collective strength in local communities and in global society. Through American Corner (AmCor) and Warung Perancis (WP), library introduce American and France culture to the community. In other time, library also deliver the combination between Indonesia and both country culture. This paper described cross-cultural understanding that held by Amcor and WP to program like AmCor and WP anniversary, Halloween, Artifact and WePedia, La Chandeleur, and Pesta Budaya Perancis 2018 (France Culture Party 2018). The community will understand what, who, why, where, when and how the celebration happened. The result is the community will recognize, intepret and react in the right way.There are cross-cultural understanding.en_US
