| dc.description.abstract | Agreement on Comfort Women are bilateral agreements between Japan and South Korea to resolve the most sensitive issue, namely comfort women. This problem began when 1937, Japan forming facilities sexual slavery to prevent sexual violence. As the time goes by, many people began to be aware of the existence of Comfort Women and the importance of the struggle for their rights which Japan had taken during World War II. The awareness of the South Koreans then continued with demonstrations demanding Japan's responsibility for the fate and rights of the comfort women.
The purpose of this study is to examine how effective the Agreement on Comfort Women to improving relations between Japan and South Korea. This study uses qualitative methods along with the theory of compliance, law efectiveness and international agreement. The theory of compliance and law efectiveness is used to explain how much national interest in Japan and South Korea can be achieved in this agreement, which then affects the compliance of the two countries and the effectiveness of this agreement. While the concept of an international agreement is a reference to the implementation of this agreement, whether the steps taken by the two countries will be legal or not. The results of this study indicate that this agreement was not effective because of South Korea's disobedience due to the non-fulfillment of South Korea's interests in this agreement. in addition, this agreement failed to be oriented towards comfort women as the object of this agreement, and more to a political agreement. | en_US |
