dc.description.abstractThis research is titled The Effect Of Various Cytokinin’s Concentration To Keep Freshness Of Cut Gerbera Flowers (Gerbera jamesonii). This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of cytokinin and to get the most appropriate concentration of cytokinin to keep the freshness of cut gerbera flowers. This research has been done on March until May 2018 in Postharvest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This research used a single factor experimental method that compiled in Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 3 replications. The treatments tested were : only water, cytokinin 5 ppm, cytokinin 10 ppm and cytokinin 20 ppm. Parameters observed were pH of solution, absorbed solution, the stiffness of the flower stalk, freshness of stalk, total microbial count and color of flowers. The results showed that the administration of 10 ppm cytokinin was the most appropriate concentration to maintain freshness of gerbera cut flowers up to 8 days of shelf life.en_US
