Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI), including a sharps injury has been a great concern for any healthcare. An accident of sharp injury increases the risk of pathogen transmission while inflicts a great financial loss up to thousands of dollars. At academic hospitals, medical students tend to have a higher chance of getting sharps injuries. For a better understanding about this issue, this paper aims to improve the medical students’ attitude towards safe injection procedures in Panembahan Senopati Hospital. There are forty medical students that are accepted annually. For a better understanding about their awareness related to sharp injuries, this hospital issued a revised safe injection assessment tool (Revised Tool C). Intended to cooperate Tool C, we utilized education media, like leaflet and movie to improve the medical students’ attitude towards safe injection. An action research (AR) was conducted through two cycles, which are the acting components (leaflet and movie were used) and an intensification. Their knowledge were assessed before and after the research through the Revised Tool C. The results showed that the students’ knowledge and attitude towards safe injection procedure were increased (pre-intervention: 30%-80% for the knowledge and 33.3%-70% for the attitude; post-intervention: 80%-100% for the knowledge and 88.9%-100% for the attitude). The results were reported to The Education and Training Committee at Panembahan Senopati Hospital.en_US
