dc.descriptionBackground: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory form of arthritis characterized by joint inflammation, pain, swelling, and stiffness. The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in Indonesia in 2013 around 31,3% of population. The disease may affect all ages and both sexes, usually it is seen in women and eldery. Patient education programmes have to be an integral part of treatment because of the pain and disability the people with arthritis face on a daily basis. Patient education is crucial as it allows better compliance and ability to cope with the psychological, physical and the social problems associated with the disease. This study aims to analyze the effect of education rheumatoid arthritis on knowledge and attitudes of rheumatoid arthritis on eldery group in Panti sosial Tresna Wredha unit budi luhur, Yogyakarta. Methods: This research is a quantitative analytical study with a quasi experimental research design with a pre test and post test group design. Research responden only consist group without a control group. Results: The results in 81 respondent from pre-test and post-test knowledge obtained a significant value of 0.018 (p<0.05). While the pre-test and post-test responden attitude obtained a significant value of 0.00 (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that education about rheumatoid arthritis helps improve patients knowledge and attitude on eldery group.en_US
