| dc.description | Latar Belakang : Penyakit asam urat disebabkan oleh metabolisme abnormal
dari purin. Kelainan dari metabolisme purin dapat disebabkan karena beberapa hal
seperti usia lanjut, timbunan lemak berlebih terutama di perut yang berhubungan
dengan obesitas yang juga berpengaruh terhadap timbulnya penyakit lain seperti
diabetes mellitus tipe 2 yang merupakan salah satu sindrom metabolik yang
berupa kadar gula darah yang tinggi akibat resistensi insulin. Kurangnya data
mengenai insidensi dan prevalensi asam urat di Indonesia berkontribusi terhadap
kurangnya upaya pencegahan dari masalah asam urat. Studi ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui pengaruh dari lingkar perut pada lansia penderita diabetes mellitus
tipe 2 terhadap kadar asam urat.
Metode : Cross sectional study dilakukan terhadap 64 responden lansia penderita
diabetes mellitus tipe 2 (33 laki-laki dan 31 perempuan) pada 8 Januari sampai 27
Agustus 2018 di Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping
dengan pengamatan terhadap lingkar perut dan kadar asam urat responden.
Analisis data yang digunakan dengan uji Pearson untuk mengetahui hubungan
antara lingkar perut dan kadar asam urat pada lansia penderita diabetes mellitus
tipe 2.
Hasil : Hasil analisis uji Pearson correlation antara lingkar perut dan kadar asam
urat didapatkan nilai signifikansi 0,001 p< 0,05. Terdapat hubungan yang
signifikan antara lingkar perut dan kadar asam urat lansia penderita diabetes
mellitus tipe 2.
Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara lingkar perut dengan
kadar asam urat pada lansia penderita diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di RS PKU

| dc.description.abstract | Background : High blood uric acid levels is caused by abnormal metabolism of
purin. Several things might affect the metabolism of purin, such as aging, excess
fat stored in the body especially in abdomen which are related to obesity and also
one of the cause of metabolic syndrome such as high blood sugar due to insulin
resistance, better known as type 2 diabetes mellitus. The lack of incidency and
prevalency of high uric acid data in Indonesia may contribute to the lack of
attempts to prevent the rise of blood uric acid. This study aimed to determine the
relationship between waist circumferences to the blood uric acid levels in
geriatric with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods : Cross sectional study conducted to 64 geriatrics with type 2 diabetes
mellitus ( 33 males and 31 females) on 8th Januari to 27th August 2018 in
Department of Internal Medicine RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping with
measurement of participants’ waist circumferences and uric acid levels. Pearson
correlation test is used to determine the relationship between waist
circumferences and uric acid levels in geriatric with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Result : From the analysis results using the Pearson Correlation test, obtained
significancy value is α = 0.001 p < 0.05 level. There is significant relationship
between waist circumferences and uric acid levels in geriatrics with type 2
diabetes.
Conclusion : Significant relationship was found between waist circumferences
and uric acid levels on geriatrics with type 2 diabetes mellitus in RS PKU
