dc.description.abstractThis research is aimed to find out the use of tokoro and basho, as well as to know whether synonyms can interchangeable one another or not. This research employed a descriptive method with qualitative approach. The subjects of the research were some selected Japanese language books used by the students of Japanese Language Education Study Program in the period of 2015-2018. The findings of the research show tokoro and basho are synonymous having the same meaning, that is “place”. While the differences of those words are the use and type of meishi. In the Japanese language books has researched, there is five tokoro meanings and one basho meaning used for learning. Which tokoro have more meaning than basho, they cannot be used interchangeably depending on certain situation and context.en_US
