dc.descriptionThe adherence on restrictions on fluid intake is a problem in patients with a chronic kidney disease whose undergoing hemodialysis. Family support and motivation are the important factors in adherence to restrictions on fluid intake. Objective: To examine the relationship between motivation and family support with adherence on fluid intake restrictions in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in the hemodialysis room of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Yogyakarta. Method: Type of quantitative cross sectional design. Sampling using total sampling technique with a total of 97 respondents with the criteria of patients who have undergone hemodialysis at least one year and can read. Data collection used motivation questionaire with the Treatment Self Regulation Questionaire (TSRQ) and family support questionaire and checklist to measure adherence on fluid restriction. Data analysis used Kruskal-Wallis Test to analyze the relationship between variables and Kendalls Tau to analyze the strength of variables. Results: Respondents with good motivation (66%), good family support (63,9%) and level of adherence with restrictions on fluid intake with a high category (62,6%). The relationship between motivation and restriction on fluid intake with p=0,046 and family support with adherence to restrictions on fluid intake with p=0,037. The correlation between motivation with adherence on fluid restriction with r=0,168 and family support with adherence on fluid restriction with r=0,206. Conclusion: There is a relationship between motivation and family support with adherence to restrictions on fluid intake in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Family support is a stronger variable in influence to adherence on fluid restriction.en_US
