Novels become one of the results of literary works whose devotees are still counted, so for novel lovers especially translation novels, the role of translators is very necessary. This study aims to identify and describe the translation techniques and methods used in chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in the Niji No Shounen Tachi novel. This research is a qualitative research. The data source is text translation of chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in Niji No Shounen Tachi's novel in Japanese, then compared with the original text of chapter 4 Perempuan-perempuan Perkasa in Laskar Pelangi. Data collection is done through identification of techniques and translation methods. Analysis is done after the data collection process. The translation technique applied in chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in Niji No Shounen Tachi's novel amounted to 236 data. In the data there are 9 translation techniques applied. The techniques are 31 data adaptation techniques, 84 data linguistic amplification techniques, 7 data description techniques, 14 data transposition techniques, 21 data reduction techniques, 12 data literal translation techniques, 20 data calculation techniques, 41 data modulation techniques, and lending techniques. 6 data. Linguistic amplification technique of 36% is seen most widely used in translating chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in the Niji No Shounen Tachi novel, while the borrowing technique of 3% is only used in 6 data. The most commonly used translation method chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in the Niji No Shounen Tachi novel is an idiomatic translation method with 20 data totaling 45%. However, not only the idiomatic translation method used by translators in chapter 4 Fukutsu no Onna Musurima Sensei in the Niji No Shounen Tachi novel there are also 16 data with a literal translation method of 36%, 1 data of the literal translation method of 2%, 1 data with the method communication translation by 2%, and 6 data using the translation method by 14%. The idiomatic translation method is most often used so that it can be concluded that translators tend to translate to the target language. | en_US |
