dc.description | Fiber composite is type of composites that widely used in engineering application. In this research the composite was made of using palm fiber/fiberglass/polyester. The purpose of the research is to determine the effect of the number of glass fiber layer on characteristic of hybrid sugar palm fiber/glass fiber/polyester matrix flexural and impact technique. The fabrication of hand lay-up technique and bending test and impact test were conducted according to ASTM D790 and ASTM D4812 respectively. The variations of glass fiber used were 0 layer, 1 layer, 2 layers and 8 layers. The result showed that the increase of the number of glass fiber layer resulted in the increase of bending strength and elastic modulus. The highest strength 361,23 MPa was abtained at 8 layers of glass fiber and L/d = 32. The highest elastic of modulus 17,45 was abtained at 8 layers at glass fiber and L/d = 32. The variety of glass fiber is also influential on the value of hardness impact. The highest hardness impact 223832,12 J/m2 was abtained at 8 layers of glass fiber and L/d = 32. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Komposit serat merupakan jenis komposit yang paling banyak digunakan dalam aplikasi teknik. Dalam penelitian ini komposit dibuat dengan menggunakan serat ijuk/serat gelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi lapisan serat gelas terhadap karakteristik lentur dan impak komposit hybrid serat ijuk/serat gelas bermatrik polyester. Pembuatan komposit menggunakan teknik hand lay-up dan dilakukan dua pengujian yaitu bending mengacu pada ASTM D790 dan pengujian impak mengacu pada ASTM D4812. Variasi serat gelas yang dipakai yaitu 0 lapis, 1 lapis, 2 lapis dan 8 lapis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lapisan serat gelas sangat berpengaruh pada meningkatnya nilai kekuatan bending dan modulus elastisitasnya. Nilai ratarata kekuatan bending tertinggi yaitu pada variasi 8 lapis serat gelas, sebesar 361,23 MPa untuk L/d = 32. Modulus elastisitas tertinggi diperoleh pada variasi 8 lapis serat gelas, sebesar 17,45 GPa untuk L/d = 32. Variasi serat gelas juga berpengaruh pada nilai ketangguhan impak. Nilai rata-rata ketangguhan impak tertinggi diperoleh pada 8 lapis serat gelas yaitu sebesar 223832,12 J/m2. | en_US |
