dc.description | In this study, the researcher discusses between market interests and legal
compliance (analysis of the political economy of local broadcasts in Yogyakarta
RBTV). Researchers chose RBTV because they collaborated with Kompas TV. The
impact of this collaboration changed the broadcast pattern where the dominance
of programs carried out by Kompas TV, besides RBTV, it has reduced its
localization where the programs produced by RBTV are mostly in the form of
advertorial. The purpose of this research is to see the contestation between market
interests and compliance with the law carried out by RBTV, as well as to see the
interventions carried out by Kompas TV on RBTV the implications of networking.
The study used political economic theory Vincent Mosco concentrated this research
on the aspects of commodification and spatialization. The approach used is
descriptive qualitative using a case study strategy. Data collection is done by
interview, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that
the networking conducted by RBTV with Kompas TV occurred commodification
where the opportunity for content domination by Kompas TV opened, RBTV also
followed the pattern of programs in Kompas TV. In addition, RBTV has diminished
its localization, which used to broadcast programs around culture, but now it is
filled with promotions. Whereas in spatialalization there is horizontal integration,
where in addition to carrying out the Kompas TV regulation, it also extends its
audience. This is related to the vertical integration which dominates the broadcast
program every day, so that the control of Kompas TV makes RBTV follow the same
pattern as Kompas TV and the faded localization that was the idealism of RBTV at
the beginning of its establishment. | en_US |
