| dc.description.abstract | Lifestyle changes adversely affect dietary diets that result in an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis can be triggered by one of the risk factors of hyperlipidemia. Once condition of hyperlipidemia is increased of total colesterol levels. One effort to prevent this incident is to eat foods rich in antioxidants and hypolipidemia effects such as papaya and turmeric. This research purposed to determine the the influence of papaya seeds (Carica papaya l.) and turmeric (Curcuma domestic val.) juice combination to decreased total cholesterol levels. Twenty-five male white rat (Ratus nivergitus) were assigned into five groups. Group I was negative control, group II with positive control, group III with a combination of papaya seeds juice 100 mg/kgBW/day and turmeric juice 70mg/kgBW/day, group IV combination of papaya seeds juice 200mg/kgBW/day and turmeric juice 70mg/kgBW/day and group V combination of papaya seeds juice 400mg/kgBW/day and turmeric juice 70mg/kgBW/day. Concentrations of total cholesterol were examined using colorimetric enzymatic GPO. The lowest concentration of total cholesterol was found in group V with 107.126±1.475 mg/dL. The results of paired sample t-test showed that there were significant differences in pretest and postest total colesterol levels, with p<0.05. Juice combination of papaya seeds (carica papaya l.) and turmeric (curcuma domestic val.) take effect to total cholesterol levels. | en_US |
