dc.descriptionError was the failure in completing what was already planned, which may lead to adverse events or near miss. The prevalence of adverse events are still high, including the issues that are currently happening in Indonesia. This study aimed to find the Nursing profession students’ knowledge about patient safety and to know the description of errors by nursing student profession batch XXII at University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This research was quantitative descriptive, with a non experimental design. These research samples were 104 nursing student profession batch XXII, conducted on March to May 2015. Used simple random sampling technique. The data analysis used univariate analysis. The result of the study indicated that the Nursing profession students’ knowledge about 6 principles of patient safety, such as identification exactness, effective communication, the safety of medication use, and fall prevention, is good. However, the Nursing profession students are lack of knowledge about specifying the exact location surgery, performing precise procedures surgery and preventing infection risk. The research results obtained error of medication (40.4%), procedural (24.5%), diagnostics (23.1%), communication (32.9%), documentation (23.1%), and transfusion (2.9%). The conclusion of this study showed that majority of the nursing profession students had sufficient knowledge about patient safety and the most widely performed error among students was communication error.en_US
