dc.descriptionThis study aims to describe farmers’ behavior in using chemical pesticide for paddy including the farmers’ action in choosing kinds of pesticide, pesticide dosage, pesticide mixing, spraying time, spraying interval, spraying equipment, spraying technique application, pesticide storage and spraying tools as well as after spraying management. The study was conducted in Kutoanyar village which has the highest paddy productivity in Kedu subdistrict. The sampling technique used proportional sampling with the number of samples was 47 farmers who joined Gapoktan Terpadu. The data gathering techniques used were questionnaire and interview. The result of the study showed that the farmers’ behavior in using chemical pesticide in paddy in Kutoanyar village was categorized as good enough the score of 52.71. In general, there was no correlation among the factors that affected the farmers in using chemical pesticide for paddy. However, when the factors affected and the behavior indicators were analyzed, there were some stronger correlation with the opposite direction such as the farmers’ experiences with the behavior of applying the pesticide, non formal education with the use of equipment and kinds of gloves, social involvement with the equipment being used, the farmers’ household income with kinds of gloves being used, and there was a stronger correlation for more positive direction between the farmers’ perception on OPT attack and the length of using the chemical pesticide.en_US
