AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF PRESS FREEDOM ON CORRUPTION: EVIDENCE THROUGH A CROSS-SECTIONAL DATA ANALYSIS
Abstract
This study attempts to find the relationship between the government corruption and the media based on Latham's democratics theory. First of all, the empirical results of this study show that the autonomy of the media reduces corruption. It can be seen as an element of direct democracy that makes up for the constraints of indirect democracy.
