      Abstract
Background:Alternative medicine is now growing, its use primarily as the utilization of natural resources, matoa fruit chosen because the analysis of the components in the skin showed the presence of tannins, saponins and alkaloids. This study is needed to determine the impact of antiseptic hand sanitizer skin extract of matoa fruit in decreasing germ rate. Methods:This research uses laboratory experimental approach post test with control group design. Samples were taken from FKIK UMY Students by taking the number of germ of palms. The tools and materials needed in this research are TSA Media, hand sanitizer matoa fruit skin extract, incubator, etc. The result of the number of germs counted. Then the results are analyzed data with univariant test and multivariate test using One Way ANOVA to know the ratio of germ reduction value of each hand sanitizer. Results:The number of germs obtained in the positive control is 29500 CFU / cm2, the hand sanitizer skin extract of matoa concentration 0,5% is 39875 CFU / cm2, and on hand sanitizer skin extract of matoa fruit of 1% concentration is 60375 CFU / cm2. Analysis using One Way ANOVA got significant result with p value 0,029 (p <0,05). The results of this study found significant differences between groups of variables but increase the number of germs in the palm of the hand. Conclusions:Hand sanitizer Pometia pinnata fruit peel extract was not effective in reducing the number of germs on the palms.
