      Abstract
      Classroom management is important skill that student-teachers should have when they conduct teaching practice to prevent students’ misbehavior in classroom. However, not all student-teachers have that ability in real classroom situation. This research aimed at finding out the problems and strategies in classroom management of EED of UMY student-teachers during their teaching practice. The descriptive qualitative research was used as the research design. The research took place at English Education Department of UniversitasMuhammadiyah Yogyakarta (EED of UMY). Four students of EED of UMY batch 2013 became the participants of this research. The data were collected through interview using Bahasa Indonesia. Member checking was done to get the validity of the interview data. The researcher analyzed the data using selective coding. The findings revealed the problems in classroom management included the student-teachers’ feeling unconfident, uncertainty, afraid, under pressure, and confused in teaching. The findings also showed that the students have different proficiency, low interest, overactive, laziness, disrespectful, grouping and different characteristics contributed to the problems coming from the students. The problems related to the lack of facilities included the unavailability of audio speaker and LCD. The strategies to overcome the problems related to the factors from teacher, students and facilities were preparing themselves, mastering the material, predicting the questions, practicing more, asking for good cooperation from school, conducting physical activity, getting closer, warning, arranging the seats, asking to use English, speaking louder and the last is making and bringing the teaching aid by themselves.
