      Abstract
      This research aims to prove whether there is an increase of the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education Subject by implementing the problem based learning model. The research uses the Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) or Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The data collected using observation and interview. The data is analyzed descriptively. The research result shows that the learning implementation using problem based learning model can increase the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject. The research results show that: (1) the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject cycle 1 meeting I gains the average score of 39.58%, (2) the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject cycle 1 meeting II gains the average score of 54.16%, (3) the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject cycle 2 meeting I gains the average score of 66.66%, (4) the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject cycle 2 meeting II gains the average score of 81.25%, (5) the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject cycle 1 gains the average score of 73.95%, and (6) there is an increase of the students’ learning interest in the Islamic Education subject in each cycle.
