      Abstract
      Background : Dementia is a part of aging process and one of the most common health problems which can‟t be avoided. Physical activities such as prostration in muslims prayer increase cerebral blood flow and believed to prevent the incident of dementia. It keeps brain always gets sufficient metabolism although aging continues. Purpose : To analyze the correlation between rutinity of muslim praying (compulsory shalat) with the incident of dementia. Method : We analyzed 42 subjects using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) in this non experimental study with a cross sectional design. Subjects were also questioned on their rutinity of muslim praying. Spearman and Chi Square were use to asses correlation between rutinity of muslim praying with dementia. Results : We found MMSE score correlated significantly with rutinity of muslim praying (p: 0,031) and (r: -0,334). Crosstabulation shows that higher of rutinity of muslim praying will be the more normal MMSE score earned. Conclusion : Higher rutinity of muslims praying may have potential to prevent the incident of dementia significantly (p: 0,031).
