KEGAGALAN UNI AFRIKA DALAM UPAYA PENYELESAIAN KONFLIK DARFUR DI SUDAN PADA TAHUN 2004-2007
Abstract
This research is to explain how the failure of African Union to solve
Darfur Conflict in Sudan in 2004 until 2007. Darfur conflict was began in 1983,
when Arabic ethnic supported by Sudan government are in conflict with the
African ethnic who are the identity of Darfur rebelian.African ethnic felt ignored
by the government choose to joint with a movement that namely the Darfur
Liberation Front (DLF) which changed the name to Sudan Liberation Movement/
Army (SLM/A) and joint with Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in 2002. The
war began intensively in early 2003 when SLM/A attacked the Sudanese military
group called “Janjaweed”. African Union as an African region Organization sent
their army called African Union Mission in Darfur (AMIS) to carry out
peacemaking mission to solve Darfur conflict. But African Union effort have
failed to arbitrate the parties who involved in the conflict because widespread
conflict and several failure factor to solve the conflict.
