      Abstract
Background: Removeable orthodontic is a tool that can be detached and set by the patient themselves. The Orthodontic removeable application can turned into a favorable environment for the growth and development of Candida albicans. Leaf of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) can be used as a traditional medication because it contain some substances such a saponin, tannin and flavonoid that have a profit for hamper the growth of microorganism. Purpose: This research aimed to find out the effect of ethanolic extract from leaf of wuluh starfruit against the growth of candida albicans. Methods: This research was designed using purely laboratory experiment. Microbes that will serve as a research subject is isolated from populations of the microbes in orthodontic removable user, and for the test material is using a extract from leaf of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi.L) and divided into 6 group that is concentration 12,5%, 35%, 50%, 100%, for negative control is using aquades and for the positive control is using Chlorhexidine 0,2%. For Each individual extract concentration spilled into SDA media by pitting holes, after that the SDA is incubated for 24 hours with the temperatures is 37! C. The data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA and ollowed by LSD test. Research findings: The result of this research shows that extract from leaf of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) has minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) at a concentration of 12,5% and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) at a concentration of 100%, and the conclusion is the extract from leaf of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L,) has antifungal power to Candida albicans.
