dc.description.abstract | Conjunctivitis is one common disease among the Indonesian society. The major cause of conjunctivits is
environment. The objective of this research was to figure out the frequency of conjunctivitis case in rural hospitals
compared to urban hospitals.
This research was a cross-sectional analytic descriptive research. The sample of this research was 742
respondents registered in the patient medical records of PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital and RS PKU
Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital during 1 January 2013 – 21 December 2013. Chi-square analysis was used in this
research.
Based on the research, there were 373 (50.3%) conjunctivitis patients in suburban hospitals and 369 (49.7%)
conjunctivitis patients in urban hospitals. The result of C-square test shows the insignificant value p=0.835 between rural
and urban hospitals to the conjunctivitis case.
The conclusion is conjunctivitis case occurs more in rural hospitals than urban hospitals with insignificant
value.
