      Abstract
      The bitter (Andographis paniculata (Burm f.) Nees) is a medicinal plant that have various benefits, such as an antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to find out the ability of bitter herb (Andographis paniculata (Burm f.) Nees) extract to inhibit the growth of Echerichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacterial as antidiarrheal. The extraction of bitter herb (Andographis paniculata (Burm f.) Nees) was done by maceration method with 95% ethanol solvent. The ability of ethanol extact of bitter herb to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli ATCC 35218 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 using diffusion method. This study was conducted with 5 variation of concentration (12,5%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%), positive control (Ciprofloxacin), negative control (DMSO) with 3 replication. The result of study antibacterial activity of ethanol extract bitter herb (Andographis paniculata (Burm f.) Nees) has a weak inhibit category on the Escherichia coli and a medium inhibit category on the Staphylococcus aureus with MIC at Escherichia coli at 70% w/v and Staphylococcus aureus at 12,5% w/v.
