HUBUNGAN INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN SMARTPHONE DENGAN KONSENTRASI BELAJAR PADA MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI ILMU KEPERAWATAN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Background: smartphone is a device that give a lot of amenity to the users, especially among collage student. The application on the smartphone connected with internet make ease the students doing their assignment. It makes the student have a high intensity of using smartphone. A high intensity of using smartphone can influence students learning concentration.
Objective: to determine the correlation between intensity of using smartphone with learning concentration among nursing student in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
Methodology: the type of this research was quantitative study with correlational design used cross sectional approach. The sample of this research as much as 91 respondents used stratified random sampling technic. The instrument of this research used questionnaire. Correlation tet to determine the correlation between intensity of using smartphone with learning concentration among nursing students used Spearman Rank Test.
Result: 54,9% student have high intensity of using smartphone and 92,3% students have moderate learning concentration. The result of analysis showed p value = 0,024 (p< 0,05) its mean there was significant correlation between both of variable.
This study shows that p value = 0,024 (p< 0,05) which means there is a significant relationship between the intensity of smartphone usage with students’ concentration in studying.
Conclusion: There was a correlation between the intensity of using smartphone with learning concentration among nursing students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The higher of the used intensity of smartphone will affect the learning concentration. Then, it is necessary to improve the quality of service and regulations of students to reduce the use of smartphone.
