xtremism is an actual threat faced by the worldwide which causes confrontations, destructions and distrusts between one and another. As a result, there have been insecurities among the global society. In order to confront religious extremism issues, religious counselling is necessary to be conducted since it has become the frontline of the Ministry of Religious Affairs as well as of the guidance of all mankind. Religious counselling is believed to have significant contribution in actualizing a religious livelihood which is harmonic, tolerant, open and communicative. This study is to find out the role of religious instructors in implementing the counselling materials regarding the issue of religious extremism and to elaborate resisting and supporting factors faced by the religious instructors in implementing the counselling materials regarding the issue of religious extremism. This study used qualitative method with descriptive analysis. Result shows that (1) religious instructors have already implied the materials regarding religious extremism issues during the Islamic recitation in Kasihan Sub-District. (2) There are several factors that inhibit the religious instructors in implementing religious extremism issue materials, involving: the instructors‟ knowledge limitation against extremism and how to address the issue, the lack of reliable references that may support the understanding about extremism, and the audience‟s level of education which is still low. The supporting factor obtained in this study is that there is a special community under guidance. This kind of community allows religious instructors to penetrate within the society. Another supporting factor is related to the supporting facilities, such as LCD projectors, microphones, and many more.
