ANALISIS MASSA JENIS DAN KEKUATAN TARIK MATERIAL KOMPOSIT BERPENGUAT SERAT GLASS DARI HASIL METODE VACUUM INFUSION
Abstract
This research discusses about a density and tensile strength resulting from various methods used in composite manufacture. The methods used include Vacuum Infusion using resin’s flow from the middle, from the side and Press Mold method.
The purpose of this research was to determine the quality of products produced from Vacuum Infusion compared with Press Mold method. And the other, this research can be find the best of matriksflow by Vacuum Infusion method. This material made of 3 layers of E-Glass random-pattern fiber with a size 30 cm x 30 cm and size 20 cm x 16 cm with Press Mold method, and type of matriks used is polyester. Tests of specimens based on ASTM D638 standard.
The result of tensile strength, average a Vacuum Infusion’s specimen with side flow of 179,69 Mpa and 206,74 Mpa for center flow and Press Mold method is 124,15 Mpa. From the density test the average of specimens from the Vacuum Infusion result with the flow from the side is 1.49 g/cm3 and 1.46 g / cm3 for resin’s flow from the middle and with Press Mold method is 1.45 g / cm3.
