STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI PT KERETA API INDONESIA (PERSERO) DAOP 6 YOGYAKARTA DALAM SOSIALISASI KESELAMATAN PERJALANAN KERETA API TAHUN 2016
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe about the communication strategies with its positive and negative factors and the citizens’ responds toward the train safety trip socialization that was held by PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta in 2016. The responsibility in having a train safety trip is not only PT KAI’s duty but also all citizens, together keeping the safety trip. The accident and rock throwing cases that are still happening every year, and the lack of awareness towards UU No 23 in year 2007 become the parts of the main factors in having train safety trip socialization.
This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The finding of informants uses a purposive sampling technique. The collecting data process uses in-depth interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The data analysis is done by using interactive analysis. The data validity is done by triangulation technique.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta already doing the train safety trip socialization stages, start from arranging the plans until the execution. The communicators and the socialization team consist of internal and external company’s workers. The target of the socialization are kids and the citizens that have been chosen by the data of PL-PLH PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta 2016. The socialization is done by having direct communications (face to face), such as in-school socialization, coloring contest for kids, and socialization when holding the closing event of wild crossings. The socialization is also done with having media communications, such as community services advertising in Star Jogja Radio, talkshow in radio, interview, and pers release.
These communication strategies are still having lack because there is no successful indicator in the socialization event. After doing the plans and executing the socialization, there is no evaluation. On the other hand, the socialization towards citizens is not using some supporting tools such as brochures, so that the information is not being clearly explained. In addition, the executing process of the socialization is only been focused in Yogyakarta and Solo region, so that the messages are not being sent completely in the whole Daop 6 Yogyakarta’s area.
