Schools are formal education institution that facilitate in building the responsibility of students in achieving an optimal development. However, what happens in the field is not always what is expected to happen. One of the problems that becomes an obstacle in the education process is the violence at school (bullying). The research aimed at: (1)describing the school atmosphere of SMP Negeri 1 Batangan; (2)describing the tendency of bullying behavior at SMP Negeri 1 Batangan; (3)proving the effect of school atmosphere toward the bullying behavior at SMP Negeri 1 Batangan. The approach used in this research was quantitative and the research type was descriptive. The subject of the research were the students of SMP Negeri 1 Batangan with 483 students. The sample collecting method used Slovin formula with the mistake level of 10 % so that 97 samples were collected. The data analysis technique was univariate and bivariate analysis with Kendal Tau test. The result indicated that: (1)The school atmosphere at SMP Negeri 1 Batangan was in good category, 71 respondents (68,3%); (2) The tendency of bullying behavior at SMP Negeri Batangan, most respondents were in mild category, 96 respondents (92,3%); (3) There was a negative effect of the school atmosphere toward the tendency of bullying behavior at SMP Negeri Batangan with the significant score of 0,000 and the coefficient score of -0,439.
