Abstract
Pressure vessel serves as a place for carrying, processing and storing fluid material. A pressure vessel is high risk hazardous technical equipment that might cause accident. Therefore, the design of pressure vessel must have a high level of security and accordance with applicable standards. Considering the present situation that there are still cases of failure pressure vessel, it would be required a redesign of pressure vessel in order to know it’s safety. Design of pressure vessel can be carried out with method adapted to technological progress. In this case, the design pressure vessel was 2nd storage compressor suction kick of drum vertical oriented with the 10,4 m 3 capacity, internal pressure of 62 barg, external pressure of full vacuum, and a temperature of 150oC. The design has done by manual calculations and with the help of PV Elite 2014 software. Based on manual calculation obtained at1,3499 inch shell thicness, head thickness 1,3256 inch, shell MAWP 917,1239 psi, and head MAWP 935,8642 psi. Meanwhile, based on design of the software acquired shell thicness 1,3553 inch, 1,3357 inch the thickness of head, shell MAWP 1110,52 psi, and head MAWP 1099,53 psi. Based on the two methods used, there was no significant difference. However the nozzle with standart schedule for NPS 4 inch, 3 inch, and 2 inch, schedule 60 for NPS 16 inch and 20 inch, and schedule 80 for NPS 6 inch. All of method has known that all of nozzle required for reinforcing pad.
