      Abstract
      Background : HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodefeciency Virus / Aquired Immunodefeciency Syndrome) is one of the global emergency issues. HIV/AIDS in Indonesia at most in housewives. Factors contributing to the high incidence of HIV AIDS in women because they are powerless to refuse or choose their sexual partners. The incidence in housewives is also due to women's ignorance or incomprehension of HIV / AIDS prevention. Objective: To know the description of housewife knowledge level about HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention in RT 01 Dagaran Hamlet Village, Palbapang village of Bantul. Methodology: This research is a quantitative research using descriptive design with Cross Sectional. Sampling is total sampling. Respondents numbered 60 people in RT 01 Dagaran Hamlet and conducted peneletian in March 2017. Analysis of data with frequency distribution and percentage. This instrument was adopted from Kalinae Putri (2012) and modified in this study and has been tested for validity and reliability. Results: The results showed that 37 respondents (61.7%) were knowledgeable enough, 22 respondents (36.7%) were knowledgeable, and 1 respondent (1.7%) had low knowledge about HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention. Conclusions: Most housewife respondents have sufficient knowledge about HIV transmission and prevention.
