      Abstract
      This research aims to find out the correlation between students’ motivation in learning English and their reading attitude at EED of UMY. The samples of this study were 136 students batch 2017. Furthermore, this research was analyzed by using quantitative research method and used correlation design. In collecting the data, this study was distributing questionnaire to the respondent. The questionnaire consists of 38 items, 25 items to measure students’ motivation in learning English and 13 items to measure students’ reading attitude. The result shows that the mean score of students’ motivation in learning English was 2.94 which meant that students had moderate motivation in learning English. In the other hand, the mean score of students’ reading attitude was 2.82 which meant that students had positive reading attitude. Moreover, the result score of correlation coefficient was 0.29. It meant that there was positive low correlation between students’ motivation in learning English language and their reading attitude at EED of UMY batch 2017. Then, the significant correlation (p) is 0.000 (p<0.05) show that there is significant correlation between students’ motivation and their reading attitude, so the alternative hypothesis (H1) there is a significant correlation between students’ motivation and students’ reading attitude is accepted.
