      Abstract
      Fuel is the main need for human in everyday life. Fuel consumption is increasing with the rapid growth of population in Indonesia. The great human dependence on fossil fuels leads to depletion of fossil fuel reserves. Continuous use of fossil fuels will cause unrenewable energy scarcity, which is why alternative renewable energy is needed, one of which is biomass. Biobriket is one of the biomass used as alternative energy. Biobriket raw materials derived from agricultural waste that has not taken longer the primary results, one of which is the shell of oil palm. Biobriket became one of the efforts to overcome the energy crisis in Indonesia. This study examines the effect of briquetting pressures on the combustion characteristics of the Palm Oil Palm Shell charcoal. The raw material of Palm coconut shell is crushed first and crushed by blender until the powder is obtained which passes the size of 20 mesh. Coconut shell charcoal powder weighed 3 grams each, then mixed with a binder with a composition of 10%. The powder mixed with adhesive material will be carried out with pressure of 350 kg / cm2, 400 kg / cm2, 450 kg / cm2, then the combustion test using Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA) method. In addition to the combustion test, proximate test is also conducted to determine the moisture content, volatile matter content, ash content and fixed carbon content. From this test it is known that the greater the briquetting pressure, the lower the moisture content and the ash content, whereas the carbon is bound and the content volatile substances are increasing, resulting in the value of ITVM, ITFC and PT decrease and activation energy, BT increasingly.
