      Abstract
      This study aims to find out whether there is learning motivation improvement of Grade X IPA 2 students on Islamic Education Subject in the Odd Semester of SMA Negeri 1 Srandakan, Bantul, period 2017/2018 through problem solving learning method. This study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted within two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages, planning, implementing, observing and reflecting; those were done in two meetings. The subjects of the study were the 22 Grade X IPA 2 students of Odd Semester of SMA Negeri 1 Srandakan, Bantul period 2017/2018. This study was using questionnaire and observation instrument in order to measure the students’ learning motivation improvement. Result shows that the problem solving method can improve the students’ learning motivation. Based on the questionnaire instrument, the students’ learning motivation percentage during cycle I is 58,28% (medium category), while on cycle II the percentage rises into 75,82% (very high category). The increasing percentage from one cycle to another indicates that learning through problem solving method can increase the students’ learning motivation.
