PEMBUATAN LAPISAN HIDROFOBIK PADA PERMUKAAN ALUMUNIUM
Abstract
Hydrophobic coating is a coating that has anti-viral properties of water. Something is said to be hydrophobic in water that is at a surface contact angles of objects 90° or more. Hydrophobic coating has been developed and use in the industry-industry materials and textiles. However, research on the hydrophobic still widely developed with a variety of methods to obtain the properties of the contact angles that have hydrophobic above 90°. The study was to get a layer of hydrophobic by using methods that are fairly easy, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly i.e with alumunium,ethanol,acetone and stearic acid by soaking the material by varying the creation time hydrophobic coating for 20,15,10,5 hours.
Method of making a layer of hydrophobic, that is by soaking the material alumunium in boiling water a chemical solution containing ethanol (50%), stearate acid (2.6%), deionized water (50%) for 5,10,15,20 hours with a temperature of 60°. But before you do the process of soaking in a chemical solution, alumunium sanding process is done before hand on its surface which is then cleaned with acetone and water deionized respectively by using ultrasonic cleaner. After going through the process of cleaning alumunium soaked in boiling water for 5 minutes. Then alumunium treatment given a chemical solution containing stearic acid,ethanol, and water deionized at a temperature of 60° with a variation of time 5 hours,10 hours,15 hours,20 hours. Then the results of treatment of alumunium with a chemical solution cleaned using ethanol and water deionized (aquades) so the dirt that are on the surface of the alumunium is cleaned. Once formed a layer of hydrophobic then tested wettability by using the eyedropped and water.
Test result of contact angles generate hydrophobic 133° with 20 hours of soaking. The result of the contact angle of the hydrophobic reinforced based on observations of the SEM test result in which hydrophobic layer on the layers that have the nature of the layer of hydrophobic looks like a lotus flower. While the hydrophobic properties when compared to who gets treatment for 5 hours, the surface layer of hydrophobic coating formation is beginning like a lotus flower. Optical test result also showed that the thickness of the layer of hydrophobic who got the treatment chemical for 20 hours is higly visible, namely of 60.29μm-177.94μm.
