      Abstract
      Nowadays, the use of energy source is increasing which caused fossil energy sources such as oil, coal, natural gas getting thinning. Indonesia petroleum reserves are getting thinning because the use of petroleum for industry and transportation. To minimize the use of fossil fuels, various ways has been conducted. One of the alternative way which on developing is renewable energy, named biodiesel. Biodiesel is composed of various ester fatty acid that can be produced by vegetable oil such as palm oil, castor oil, coconut oil, soybean oil and there are stil 30 kind of vegetable oil can be use as biodiesel fuel. The high potential vegetable oil in Indonesia is soybean oil because it’s exsistence is abundant. Diesel machine is a main activator system for transportation and stasioner activator. Diesel machine are used by tractor, car, transportation of heavy equipment and industrial engine. Component and characters of diesel machine arranged in such a way in order to comply the performance of diesel machine. One of the diesel machine component that can be arranged is nozzle. Nozzle has a big impact towards the quality of mixture offuel and air. Fuel viscosity also have a big impact towards the quality of automation. This research aims to knowing the performance of diesel machine when using biodiesel fuel from soybean oil (B5 nad B10) and compared with pure diesel fuel. The parameter that tested in this research is power and specific fuel consumption (SFC) by putting load lamps with 500watt of each and also tested the injection/spray using biodiesel fuel. The result of pewer maximum test with pure diesel fuel 1,74 kW at maximum loading. For specific fuel consumption efficient is BK1 B5 (0,239 kg/kW.jam) and BK1 B10 (0,227 kg/kW.jam) at maximum loading. Injection/spray characteristic test result are performed by calculating the length and angel. Biodiesel that has a length and small spray angel is BK1 B10 with a spray length of 387,6 mm and spray angel of 11,13 at time 00:01 second.
