      Abstract
The purposes of this research are to obtain the appropriate type of compost for the multiplication of M. anisopliae fungi and to test the effectiveness of M. anisopliae which was propagated on the compost of coconut waste to the O. rhinoceros pests. This research was conducted in August until November 2017 at Greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This research consists of 3 stages, which was arranged using single factor method of Completely Random Design (CRD). The first stage is composting the coconut plant waste, the second stage is the propagation of M. anisopliae fungi on coconut plant waste compost, and the third stage is the test of bioassay to O. rhinoceros pests with 5 treated treatments which is : active compost of coconut leaves, active compost of coconut husk, active compost of coconut sawdust, active compost of coconut sawdust as the control, and active compost of coconut sawdust + Metarhizium anisopliae starter. The observed parameters include temperature, color, water content, pH, C / N ratio, percentage of weight of mycelia, viability, pest weight, and pest mortality. The results showed that compost of coconut leaves, compost of coconut husk, compost of coconut sawdust are the right compost for the growth of Metarhizium anisopliae fungi with same growth rate of mycelia and spore viability. Coconut sawdust active compost is most effective in controlling the Oryctes rhinoceros pest with a efficacy level of 53.33%.
