      Abstract
      Student center learning (SCL) is a learning method that trains students to think analytically, creatively, critically and time management through Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. PBL methods can increase the knowledge of students more widely by 70% compared with the conventional lecture model. The successful of PBL will be largely determined by the process of the tutorial to producing quality educational output. One important factor that can affect the successful of the tutorial process is the role of tutor. To know the description of tutor role in PBL tutorial in PSIK UMY.This study was used descriptive research with cross sectional method using univariate analysis. Population of 120 people and sample 54 people. Sampling technique was used purposive sampling. The reseach instrument used a tutor role questionnaire. The majority of respondents were men at the age of 22 years. The description of the students on the role of tutors in providing understanding of the seven jumps process in the category is quite large (44.4%). Student description of tutor oeran in seven jumps process in enough category.Tutors are expected to ensure that every student understands the tutorial processes, able to invite the group to look for problems and solutions in the tutorial, and emphasize to the students to prepare prior knowledge for the smoothness of the tutorial discussion process.
