      Abstract
      Background: Stroke is one of disease not contagious that often happens and the first position disease cause of death in Indonesia. According Profil Kesehatan Yogyakarta city in 2015 especially in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta that, stroke get fourth place from big ten disease in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta with total patient are 4.548 person. Stroke have an impact for patient is weakness their extremities until patient stroke in dependence condition and need someone else like family. Goal: This study aims to determine the correlation of family support with level of independence in performing self care of stroke patients in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta Method: The type of research in this study is quantitative research methods. This research design used cross-sectional design. The sampling technique in this study was accidental sampling. Data analysis used Spearman correlation test. Result: Most respondents in ages of 55-64 years old (50%), the sex were male (60%), last educated Senior High School (43,3%), and jobless (36,7%). Most of respondent have good at family support with the dependence of total were (33,3%). Most of respondent have less of family support with the dependence of moderate were (46,7%). The result of this study indicates that there is no correlation between family support with level of independence in performing self care of stroke patients (p=0,570).
