      Abstract
This research aimed at improving people’s understanding about tebasan system (a system of trading rice in which the rice in still in the plants and not all the rice is ready to harvest), the implementation of rice trading, as well as explaining the Fiqh requirements on rice trading using tebasan system in Kranji Village Paciran Sub District Lamongan Municipality. The type of the research was qualitative using purposive random sampling. The data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation directly toward the respondents which were the people of Kranji Village who traded rice using tebasan system. The respondents were 5 farmers or sellers, 4 buyers, and 1 expert on rice. The result of the research indicated that the people sold the rice using tebasan system in which the rice was still green and some were yellow (ready for harvest). Most people sold the rice using tebasan system when they were still green and 3 months old. This practice had been done since a long time ago. According to Fiqh, it is legal to sell yellow rice. It is not legal according to Fiqh to sell green rice because there is a chance of crop failure and it is considered as garar trading (uncertain trading).
