      Abstract
Background: Paracetamol is one of the drugs that oftenly accidentally taking it overdosely which can cause damage to the liver and kidney. There is not many choice of treatment for liver damage. VCO contain antioxydant and medium chain fatty acid (MCFA) which can directly go to the liver without being metabolized. So that there is need for research to determine the effect of VCO on histopathology of liver in rat induced paracetamol Aim: To determine the effect of VCO on histopathology of liver in rat induced paracetamol Methods: The design of the research is experimental with post test random control group design using 24 rat Rattus norvegicus wistar strain divided into 4 groups such as negative control, positive control (paracetamol 250mg), VCO treatment 1 ml (paracetamol 250mg+VCO 1ml), VCO treatment 3 ml (paracetamol 250 mg+VCO 3ml). The paracetamol given in the 1st-2nd day and the VCO given in the 3rd-9th day. Result: Highest score based on Manja-Roenigk score is on the positive control group (2.748±0.061) and the lowest score is on negative control group (1.258±0.049). ANOVA analysis showed significant difference between negative control and positive control group(p=0.000) and between positive control and VCO 3 ml group(p=0.000) but there is no significant difference between positive control and VCO 1 ml group(p=0.993). Conclusion: The treatment of VCO 3 ml have an effect on the liver histopathology in Paracetamol-induced rat based on Manja-Roenigk liver damage score.
