Kulon Progo Regency is one of the rice producing districts in Yogyakarta. Currently a lot of development is done in Kulon Progo Regency one of the airport development in Temon District. The construction of the airport takes up about 400 ha of agricultural productive land. This research aims to determine the carrying capacity of agriculture land food crops in Kulon Progo Regency, to forecast the carrying capacity of agriculture land crops in 2017-2020 and to make mapping related to land carrying capacity. The method of analysis is done by description. The data used are secondary data derived from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Department of Agriculture in Kulon Progo Regency. The results showed that the land carrying capacity in Kulon Progo Regency was in class II in 2007-2016. This means that Kulon Progo Regency is capable of self-sufficiency in rice but has not been able to provide a decent living for its inhabitants. In 2016 the land carrying capacity in Kulon Progo Regency is 1,637. The result of land carrying capacity forecasting shows that the average of land carrying capacity in 2017-2020 is in class II. The regional division is based on the beginning and end of the forecasting year of 2017 and 2020. Based of the forecasting, only Nanggulan Sub-district is in class I. Based on the results of forecasting, from year to year there is always a decline in the carrying capacity of the land in Kulon Progo Regency. Therefore, there should be efforts to prevent the occurrence of land subsidy. Some efforts include extensification efforts by utilizing marginal land, food diversification, and making PLP2B policy.
