ABSTRACT
Background: The oral hygiene on the elder people could be seen by the appearance of dental caries. It could be affected the quality of life including the physical health, functionality, emotionality, and society of the individual as long at they live
Research Purposes: To find out the relation between the tooth caries and the quality of life on elder people in Panti Wredha Unit Budi Luhur Bantul.
Research Method: The method of the research in the present study were used analytic observational with cross sectional design. Sixty nine participant were observed as the subject of the research. The subject of the research were elder people in Panti Wredha Unit Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul. The dental caries status were measured by DMF-T (WHO) index, whereas the affected quality of life were measured by GOHAI (WHO). Kappa Coef. for dental caries status was 100%. The data were analyzed by spearman’s corellaction
Research Result: Based on the sperman’s analysis the value of p were 0,049 (p<0,05) and the value of r were 0,238, so it could be concluded that there was any significant corelation between the dental caries and the quality of life (Oral Health Related Quality of Life) with the total number of participants were 69. The mean value of DMF-T was 12,8 which means (very high), and status GOHAI bad (43,47)
Conclusion: It could be concluded that there was a significant relation between the dental caries and the quality of life (Oral Health Related Quality of Life) on elder people in Panti Wredha Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul, In the dental caries status were very high then the status of quality of lige(GOHAI) is bad.
